Der Wandteppich panorama entwickelte sich aus einem Fotoshooting mit den SchülerInnen des Bayernkollegs sowie aus fragmentarischen Landschafts- und Stadtansichten – aus den jeweiligen Geburtsorten der SchülerInnen. Die labyrinthische Collage aus diesen Landschafts- und Stadtfragmenten bildet einen komplexen Panorama-Hintergrund. Die vermeintliche Homogenität des Panoramas löst sich auf, wenn man sich in die Landschaft hineinzoomt und abrupt an einem Ende eines Landschafts- oder Gebäudefragmentes zum „Stehen kommt“.
Unterschiedliche, nicht reale Proportionen und Größen, Schärfe/Unschärfe, etc. erzeugen einen surrealen Charakter. Gebäude stehen in Landschaften, in die sie nicht hineingehören, Berge enden, wo sie normalerweise nicht enden können, etc.
Losgelöst vor der Landschaft schweben die SchülerInnen. Sie müssen ihren Weg darin erst finden und eventuell auch einmal springen. Unsere Welt ist unübersichtlich, global, und doch muss und kann man sich darin zurechtfinden.
Die Umsetzung des fotorealistischen Bildes in einen Wandteppich abstrahiert und verfremdet das Motiv ebenso wie die überproportional großen Pflanzen – Ungewöhnliches kann einem auf dem jeweiligen Lebensweg begegnen.
Anknüpfend an die ehemalige Bedeutung der Textilindustrie in Augsburg wurde die Fotocollage als Tapisserie gewebt. Die Bauhaus-Künstlerin Anni Albers beschrieb 1965 „das Ereignis eines Fadens“ als Möglichkeit, Beziehungen und Zusammenhänge immer wieder neu zu betrachten und strukturieren zu können – ein schönes Leitmotiv nicht nur für das Bayernkolleg, sondern auch für das Zusammenleben im Allgemeinen.

The panorama tapestry developed from a photo shoot with the students of the Bayernkolleg and from fragmentary landscape and city views – from the respective birthplaces of the students. The labyrinthine collage of these landscape and city fragments forms a complex panorama background. The supposed homogeneity of the panorama dissolves when one zooms into the landscape and abruptly „comes to a stop“ at one end of a landscape or building fragment.
Different, non-real proportions and sizes, sharpness/blurriness, etc. create a surreal character. Buildings stand in landscapes in which they do not belong, mountains end where they normally cannot end, etc.
Detached in front of the landscape, the pupils float. They first have to find their way in it and possibly even jump once. Our world is confusing, global, and yet one must and can find one’s way in it.
The transformation of the photo-realistic picture into a tapestry abstracts and alienates the motif just as much as the disproportionately large plants – one can encounter unusual things on one’s path through life.
Taking up the former importance of the textile industry in Augsburg, the photo collage was woven as a tapestry. In 1965, the Bauhaus artist Anni Albers described „the event of a thread“ as an opportunity to continually look at relationships and connections – a beautiful leitmotif not only for the Bayernkolleg, but also for living together in general.
